11 percent say they would interrupt sex for social media
I love social media. At Demi & Cooper we live and breathe it. I’ve been known to check Facebook—much to the annoyance of my wife—while out to dinner. I’ve even (as a joke) live-Tweeted my daughter’s 6th birthday party. But It turns out social media may be a new addiction, according to a new Retrevo Gadgetology study. Salaciously enough, 11 percent of those under 25 say they would let a social media message interrupt sex. I’m not here to judge. I’m more interested in the rising level of engagement people have with social media. After all, it can be a fulfilling and productive use of time personally, professionally and fiscally.
How micro-managing can help save WGN radio in Chicago
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls — introducing Tribune Co. CEO Randy Michaels! He has a brilliant new idea that will make WGN-AM 720 news more riveting and enthralling— and help the Tribune Company emerge from the fiery ashes of bankruptcy and (financial?) disputes of how to fill time slots…by micro-managing the news staff?
This Super Bowl the Simpsons were schmaltzy, Betty White was on her game, and Letterman genius
Sure the economy is down and big budget Super Bowl ads are passe. But creative advertising doesn’t need a big budget. You just need a solid concept. This year all but three Super Bowl ads disappointed. Here are my top three favorites from this year, which isn’t saying much.
Happy Birthday, Facebook! Except not really.
Do you celebrate your birthday on day your parents got nasty? Or do you celebrate it on the day you were born? Mashable, CNN Money/Fortune Magazine and others are reporting this morning that today is Facebook’s birthday — as listed on their own Facebook fan page. But Facebook didn’t go live until a year later.
Sharing your bra color on Facebook was a scam. But with a beautiful outcome.
I’m sure you noticed last week that women started posting a one word color on their Facebook status. My wife even posted hers. I remarked about how it’s funny the useless things people do in order to “spread awareness” for a cause. Well it appears the whole meme was a scam. A silly, lighthearted, harmless and somewhat fun scam, but a scam nonetheless.
Facebook revisits their Privacy Policy. And users will hate it.
Last night Facebook announced that they’re going to undertake a major overhaul of their Privacy Policy. And in my opinion, it’s long overdue — and people will hate it. The blog, posted Tuesday night, has already generated more than 17,000+ comments with mixed reactions as of this morning.
TV Ads Successfully Persuade Columbian Rebels To Turn Themselves In
From its inception, advertising has been used to sell everything: shoes, food, cars, charities and even causes. That’s because in its most simple form, advertising simply connects those with a need with those who can fulfill that need. Suffering from credit card debt? Here’s a debt relief program. Pipes clogged? Meet Draino. Looking for public [...]
Study Shows Hospitals Slow To Adopt Social Media Tools
Despite proven success, only 10% of U.S. hospitals and health systems are involved in social media (California HealthCare Foundation). Even worse, few of the 10% really take advantage of the “social” side of this medium, instead preferring to simply push out messages about services, classes, and general news. In fact, per the study, only 6% [...]
Cool Tech: New software uses your smartphone camera as a lens, overlays data and images in real-time
Augmented Reality might just be the best thing that has ever happened to Plain Old Regular Reality. What is it? I’m sure by now you’ve seen Google Earth. You were probably amazed by how you can browse different parts of the globe and see detailed information simply by clicking on icons in it’s 3D topographical view. Augmented Reality uses that same principle, but applys it to the real world by using the camera on your Andriod Phone (coming soon to iPhone) as a lens — live in real time.
Social Media Is Not Going Away — So Get On Board
“The Magnificent Ambersons” is a Pulitzer Prize winning book written in the early 1900’s by Booth Tarkington that chronicles the demise of one of the wealthiest families in the town. George, the saturnine grandson, simply refuses to adjust with the changing times, preferring to shout “Git a horse” to those who drive their new motorized [...]
