Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I like listening to music.  And for the last two years, thanks to a great gift from my office family, I also like playing it.  So what if it’s just Rock Band.
Playing this game is not only good family fun and even good party fun, but it also gives you the correct lyrics to all [...]

Facebook revisits their Privacy Policy. And users will hate it.

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Last night Facebook announced that they’re going to undertake a major overhaul of their Privacy Policy. And in my opinion, it’s long overdue — and people will hate it. The blog, posted Tuesday night, has already generated more than 17,000+ comments with mixed reactions as of this morning.

Like To Walk? New Site Helps Walkers Find The Best Communities and Neighborhoods

Monday, November 9th, 2009

A somewhat new website allows builders, real estate agents and anyone interested in housing access to information about the “walkability” of the area by making calculations based on the distance from any given house to nearby amenities.  One important note:  Walk Score measures how easy it is to live a car-lite lifestyle—not how pretty the [...]

Twitter lists: good idea, cumbersome to use, useless in the real world

Friday, October 30th, 2009

The average Twitter user may want to see your Tweets, click on your links and be influenced by your brand but probably doesn’t have time to categorize you into lists. As far as the average Twitter is concerned, you’re either followed or not followed, you’re either on or off. It would be akin to requiring a magazine reader to clip out your ad and pin it to a wall to prove they really like you.

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Augmented Reality might just be the best thing that has ever happened to Plain Old Regular Reality. What is it? I’m sure by now you’ve seen Google Earth. You were probably amazed by how you can browse different parts of the globe and see detailed information simply by clicking on icons in it’s 3D topographical view. Augmented Reality uses that same principle, but applys it to the real world by using the camera on your Andriod Phone (coming soon to iPhone) as a lens — live in real time.

What Screen Size Should Be Used When Creating Websites?

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Most of us have been told to write copy for 7th graders because that’s the average age at which most people read.  At least that’s what “they” say.  Who “they” are is a mystery to me, but “they” get a lot of credit for some pretty basic stuff.
I never liked this idea simply because advertising [...]

Visual Data: Map out neighborhoods to find who is overextending themselves on rent, find a sugar daddy, cougars and more

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

I love visual data. And people are creating new tools to view data visually on the web at an exponential rate. Two former Google programmers,Elad Gil and Othman Laraki, have just launched curious little website called TownMe.
